Inflation at the end of February 2026
The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI), measured by the average variation at the end of February 2026, decreased compared with its level in February 2025. The average inflation rate fell from (4,17%) to (2,79%), representing a decline of 1,38 pp.
The decline in inflation observed at the end of February 2026, compared to the same period of the previous year, is mainly explained by the drop in food products (incl. alcoholic beverages). In fact, these recorded a decrease of 5,18 pp. This development is primarily driven by the decrease in prices of fresh produce, whose growth rate shifted from (+6,56%) to (-2,35%), as well as by the decline in industrial food products, whose variation moved from (-0,22%) to    Â
(-1,19%).
However, manufactured goods recorded an increase of (9,02%) in February 2026, compared to (6,58%) in February 2025, representing a rise of 2,44 pp. Similarly, services also increased, but more moderately, by 0,32 pp over the same period.
The year-on-year Consumer Price Index (February 2026 compared to February 2025) recorded a rate of (2,86%), compared to (4,66%), thus reflecting a decrease of 1,8 pp.
